Tips On How To Sharpen Those NLP Skills


Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) delivers a complete range of strategies and techniques for causing change in both your daily life and the lives of those you love and everybody else too. If you practise your %LINK1% on a regular basis, then you will begin to find that the quality of your relationships and your communication will develop significantly. Furthermore, your NLP skills will help you to be equipped to do things far better and more quickly.

One of the things you will usually hear spoken about with respect to NLP skills is resource states. Let’s suppose you could wave a metaphorical magic wand and feel any way you want to feel, whenever you like. Now that would certainly be a gift worth developing!

You know that there are times when we wish that we could act differently. You will perhaps identify with those who are afflicted by stage fright. We don’t even have to be in the situation. Simply thinking about it can easily bring us out into a cold sweat. We remember when we have been nervous in front of groups previously, and we might even use our imaginations to envision all the things that might go wrong. And guess what, we are not wrong

You can notice from the example that we actually practise getting into negative resource states, such as feeling worried, on a regular basis. Although these states are not particularly helpful, we clearly know well the practice of state induction and there is no reason why we should not implement the same process to produce beneficial resource states.

So, what sort of emotional state would be advantageous in this scenario? The choice is yours, but it would most likely be handy to be self-assured and calm. There have possibly been a number of other occasions when you have felt these feelings previously. Simply close your eyes and think back to when you last felt comfortable and self-confident. Maybe it was yesterday or perhaps many years ago. Evoke everything about it, from how you stood, how you were breathing, how you felt, what you saw and what you heard back then.

Now, if you are imagining that you are unable to do this as you have never felt this way before, then picture how somebody who is relaxed and self-confident would stand, breathe and feel. Possibly this is someone you esteem for being this way. When you’ve attained the desired state, amplify it to make it as intense and attractive as it can be. This is where one of your other %LINK1% comes into play. This is called anchoring. In this case, an anchor is a trigger for the state change. Thus, when you are fully experiencing the state such as calm and confident, that you want to bring back in some unspecified time in the future, you could potentially, for instance, scratch the back of your neck or squeeze together the thumb and index finger of your right hand; it is your preference. In this manner, the selected action becomes an element of the calm and confident state. So, when you do the trigger action again, for example, as you think about or enter the situation in which you would previously have been nervous, you naturally enter the desired resource state.

You are possibly now recognizing the value of practising the %LINK1% of creating resource states and anchoring. These are NLP techniques that you can apply to all areas of your life. Of course, the benefit of mastering these skills is that the ensuing states will greatly improve your communication skills and have a good impact on the other individuals that you come into contact with.
