Christmas can regularly be a difficult period for parents, who are often trying to balance bills and personal finances with buying gifts for the family. So to hopefully help parents out a bit, here’s an early look at what the top toys for this Christmas might be.
With the country still trying to pull themselves out of a national recession, spending is at an all-time low and many of the hot toys this year will reflect this, often coming in at £50 or less. That should improve the situation for a lot of parents, as hopefully they’ll be able to afford some of the most in-demand Christmas gifts of this year.
This year’s top toys are likely to be those characters from popular television shows and films, as well as some new spins on old classics.
For presents for young boys, you should be trying to find out which characters from mainsteam media have become most popular. Toy Story, Transformers and Shrek immediately spring to mind, with Buzz Lightyear almost guaranteed to be a favourite amongst young children. You can expect to see a rush for any Transformer toys, and probably any kind of toy that follows the Transformers mould. Characters from the Shrek films are extremely likely to be popular this year, with the film set to be released in 2010 and toys from the franchise likely to make great Christmas gifts for him or her.
RC Helicopters and cars are also likely to be a good choice for any young guy this Christmas.
As for younger females, popular kids shows like Peppa Pig are likely to be hugely popular, with a fairly wide range of toys on the market. Other brands likely to be big this year include Dora the Explorer, the ever-present Hannah Montana and Bratz, who look like continuing their popularity from last Christmas.
One example of toys that seem to keep their level of popularity around the Christmas period would be Sylvanian Families, which will probably continue to be popular this year. If you have a child that is slightly older, the Kidizoom Camera or GOGO Hamster both look like being extremely popular, and either would make a great Christmas gift for her.
