The color white. For years and years the fashion powers that be have helped navigate and clue in fashionistas everywhere on what’s hot and what’s not. Every now and then we get a scoop on what’s hot and it sizzles and fizzles, but I don’t think that is the case this time around.
The latest words of fashion wisdom come straight from one of the major forces in fashion, Rachel Zoe. “If it’s white it’s right”, proclaims Ms. Zoe. Be it clothing, shoes or accessories, the color of the moment is white. I love when a trend breaks the gender rules or blatantly disobeys tradition fashion rules; that’s why I’m giving this one the big thumbs up. No longer is it a fashion faux pas to wear white between Labor Day and Memorial Day. But since Rachel Zoe has spoken and I love white shoes, I really don’t need to know much more. I also like this trend because white is often shied away from during this time of year, but I think it’s a nice way to “lighten things up” while we wait for the sun to come out. Another reason I like this white trend is that often when a particular color becomes a hot trend it allows for some fashion multitasking; it lets you work more than one trend at time.
With this “make it white” trend, you can have a wider range of choices for shopping and this actually ups the odds for staying within your budget or hitting a sale. There is no doubt you will be current with fashion trends if you simply make it white. As usual I will stick to accessories like my beloved white shoes, a belt and perhaps apurse. White clothes make me paranoid and overly cautious, but there are so many stunning white clothing items to choose from, who knows, a pair of lovely full-legged trousers or a white trench might be in my future. Just remember when you hit the mall, if Rachel has spoken, and designers have followed then we must obey.
