Buddha Is The Symbol Of Longevity


Laughing buddha statue are often seen in restaurants temples and businesses because he is the deity of contentment and prosperity. You almost always see Ho Tai carrying a linen sack, always full with candy for children rice plants which symbolize wealth food or the suffering of the world. Much  is the patron saint of children and the weak and the downtrodden. A laughing buddhist mala portrays a stout, chubby bald man whose generous potbelly stomach can be seen through his loose robes. Along with his chubby belly and happy grin the laughing Buddha nearly always carries a gnarled walking stick in one hand and his ever present sack in the other. The bedlam Buddha is best generally depicted in bronze in either a sitting, continuing or in a collapsed position. The collapsed position best acceptable was built-in from the “sleeping Buddha position,” which depicted the Buddha’s aftermost moments on apple afore he ascended to Nirvana. Most often the laughing Buddha statue is displayed in the home as a symbol and talisman of good fortune and prosperity. Many happy buddhist amulet show the jolly patron holding gold ingots in his hands were sitting atop a mountain of gold coins. It’s also not unusual to see the Buddha sitting atop a Dragon throne. The Dragon is a symbol of security and power in Asian cultures. Laughing Buddha is also known as Buddha of Happiness or Matreiya in Buddhism. Legend has it that nothing would make this Buddha happier to see people’s problem, worries and sadness transform into happiness.

It is said that his inner smile is so strong that it radiates throughout his entire face. He brings happiness wherever he goes. The Laughing Buddha is a well known symbol of wealth, happiness, innocent and contended joy; just looking at his jolly face will cheer you up.
