A Woman Exhibits Symptoms Of Alcohol Abuse And Depression, Gets Motivated And Inspired About Making An Appointment To See Her Healthcare Practitioner About Her Abusive And Hazardous Drinking, And To Help Her Better Cope With The Loss And Grief Of Her Divorce

Teresa was a forty-three-year-old executive secretary who realized that she had some drinking issues. For example, within the past seven months she has felt the need to have a few drinks before going to work, three weeks ago she failed a random breathalyzer test at her place of employment, two months ago she got pulled over by the police for “driving under the influence,” and finally, for around three months she has begun to forget what she says and does when she drinks.

Like hosts of other individuals, Teresa’s involvement with alcohol began slowly and stayed at this speed for quite a long time due to the fact sometimes she engaged in occasional social drinking. As a matter of fact, for roughly eight months, every time she went out with her pals to drink, she made sure to drink moderately. Something about her drinking situation, nonetheless, seemed to totally change when she got divorced.

So She Can Overcome the Divorce of Her Husband In a More Trouble-Free Manner, Teresa Made Up Her Mind To Begin Hanging Out More Frequently With Some of Her Pals Who Love to Drink

Teresa got dreadfully down in the dumps about the divorce from her husband, and as a way to abstain from dwelling on her negative feelings she came to a decision that she would start hanging around more frequently with some of her buddies who love to drink.

Quite candidly, Teresa figured that having fun nearly every day by getting a “buzz” by drinking with her friends would help her rise above the loss of her husband in a less wearisome manner.

Time, Stress, and Anger Management Issues

Teresa also thought that partying and drinking with her buddies would help her stay away from her anger, stress, and time management problems.

Teresa’s Drinking Escalates Considerably the More Habitually She Goes to Private Parties, Sporting Events, Happy Hours, Family Get-Togethers, and Dinner Dates With Her Friends

It didn’t take very long, nonetheless, before her drinking escalated to a significant degree the more often she went to and drank at dinner dates, private parties, family get-togethers, sporting events, and happy hours with her buddies. Not only this, but the fact that her drinking pals were all quite a bit younger than she was and therefore able to party and drink harder and longer was one of the reasons why she didn’t allocate more of her attention to her increased drinking. In brief, she was partying just like everybody else in her group of buddies without too much deliberation regarding the effects of her irresponsible and excessive drinking.

Yet somewhere in the recesses of her mind she knew that she most probably required alcohol rehab but sidestepped the thought as much as possible.

Teresa Gets a Physical Exam, Owns Up to the Facts About Her Abusive and Irresponsible Drinking to Her Healthcare Professional, and Owns Up to the Truth About Her Depression

One morning during her yearly physical examination, her healthcare practitioner asked her if she drank alcohol. Not wanting to tell falsehoods to her physician, Teresa ”came clean” and said that she routinely drinks more than she should. In point of fact, she said that she routinely drinks in an irresponsible and excessive manner. Then Teresa informed her healthcare professional about her sadness. More explicitly, she stated that wrecked relationships often set off a depressing sequence of events typified by increased drinking which further led to more negative feelings that, in turn, resulted in even more drinking. And this is specifically what took place when she and her husband got divorced five years ago.

When her healthcare practitioner heard this, he informed Teresa that according to various alcoholism facts and statistics on alcoholism he was examining, alcoholism and depression many times arise in the same individual. He then told her that some of the alcohol statistics, facts, and research investigations he has been reading about also highlight the fact that people who drink in a hazardous manner and who also suffer from depression need to obtain treatment for both medical situations.

Teresa’s Doctor Schedules an Appointment for a Psychological Appraisal and For an Alcohol Abuse and Alcohol Dependency Appraisal

Teresa’s healthcare practitioner then stated the following: “I am not trying to make a sudden analysis, but with your medical condition we may be dealing with two separate problems. As a result, I think we ought to make an appointment for you to get an alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse assessment from my partner, Dr. Michaels, who is an alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse specialist. Whether your drinking problem is more linked to alcohol dependency or alcohol abuse is unknown at this time, but I feel that further evaluation is needed. Then I believe we probably should make an appointment for you to get a psychological examination from another one of my partners, Dr. Gordon, who is a psychologist. I want to get a better handle on your dejection and see how much your drinking and depression are associated.” Teresa displayed her approval of her physician’s line of attack and thanked him for his time and concern.

Teresa Deals With the Conflict and the Sexuality Difficulties When She Was Married

In reality, Teresa now experienced a sense of personal self esteem and happiness because she finally became inspired to do something constructive about her drinking problems and her depression. Not only this, but Teresa also realized that after alcohol counseling she would be more able to face the sexuality issues and the conflict when she was married and the grief and loss of her divorce.  Now all she had to do was to try to cut back on her drinking and wait for her appointments.

Teresa’s Drinking Escalates Substantially the More Often She Goes to Sporting Events, Private Parties, Happy Hours, Dinner Dates, and Family Get-Togethers With Her Pals

It didn’t take too long, nevertheless, before her drinking increased to a significant extent the more habitually she went to and drank at sporting events, family get-togethers, dinner dates, happy hours, and private parties with her buddies. Not only this, but the fact that her drinking friends were all many years younger than she was and therefore able to party and drink more thoughtlessly was one of the reasons why she didn’t center more of her attention on her increased drinking. In a word, she was drinking and having a ton of fun just like everybody else in her group of pals without too much deliberation regarding the unhealthy consequences of her hazardous and excessive drinking.

Yet somewhere in the recesses of her mind she knew that she probably needed alcohol treatment but kept away from the thought as much as possible.

Teresa Gets a Physical Exam, Discloses the Truth About Her Irresponsible and Hazardous Drinking to Her Healthcare Practitioner, and Owns Up to the Truth About Her Sadness

One day during her six-month physical, her doctor asked her if she drank alcohol. Not wanting to tell falsehoods to her healthcare practitioner, Teresa admitted that she commonly drinks more than she should. In truth, she said that she commonly drinks in an abusive and irresponsible manner. Then Teresa told her doctor about her sadness. More precisely, she stated that ruined relationships commonly triggered a disheartening chain of events characterized by increased drinking which further resulted in more discouraging feelings that, in turn, led to even more drinking. Take Control Of Your Anger Management Issues

There is a definite link between anger and alcohol. That is not to say that everyone who has an anger management problem is an alcoholic however many people who find themselves up before a court of law for some kind of violent act normally state that they were under the influence of alcohol when the crime took place. Would these same people have committed that act of violence if they had been sober? I doubt it. It is never too late to re-take control of your life, start learning today about the ways in which you can control your anger and stop drinking alcohol; this could be your last chance.

I do not personally work within anger management; I actually offer SEO services and external doors and I also provide people with DVD replication on a part-time basis.

Anger management programs often have to deal with the issues relating to alcohol. For example let us take a fictional character called John, he is attending this anger management program for the first time and has stated that he is desperate to learn ways of controlling his anger. John has a history of alcohol abuse and has been convicted of two violent acts both of which happened when he was drunk.

“So you have requested help for your anger issues; have you also requested help for your alcohol issues?”

One would hope that the answer to this question would be a “Yes”. In reality a person like John can learn all of the anger management techniques in the world however he is unlikely to remember these when he is intoxicated, it is therefore essential that he deals with his alcohol mis-use as well.

When you have reached this low it can feel like the damage that has been caused is so deep that it can not be repaired. However bad things become it is never too late to start fighting back against your inner demons. This is where you start to get tough on yourself – yes it will not be easy, there are likely to be a lot of tears along the way – but at the end of the day are you a man or a mouse? Well you have been a mouse for far too long.

A Purchasing Agent Drinks in an Excessive Manner, Gets Motivated to Get Treatment for Alcohol Addiction and Depression, and Experiences Enhanced Relationships in His Life

Stanley started drinking excessively when he was a sophomore in high school. From a positive way of looking at things, even though he drank excessively when he was a teen and a young adult, when he got beyond the age of twenty-five he almost always drank in moderation.

After he completed his education he eventually landed a job at a local office supply manufacturer where he worked his way up from stock person, to office assistant, to purchasing assistant, to purchasing manager. Unlike his other work positions, as the purchasing agent he frequently took potential vendors and existing vendors to lunch and to various sporting events.

Though it was not written in concrete, meeting with existing vendors and potential vendors repeatedly involved situations in which alcohol was present. In truth, over the past year, Stanley had started to radically increase his social and his work-related drinking. This has led to a quandary. Namely, the more successful he became as a purchasing agent, the more he began to drink.

His Increasing Bouts of Depression Also Made Him Question if He Was Becoming an Alcohol Dependent Person

In point of fact, it didn’t take long at all before Stanley’s irresponsible and careless drinking started to negatively affect the money in his savings account, his health, his work efficiency, his mental health, and his relationships. At one point, Stanley, in reality, started to be concerned about his irresponsible and excessive drinking and questioned if his alcohol related problems were alcoholism signs. What is more, his increasing bouts of depression also made him wonder whether he was becoming dependent on alcohol. In a word, Stanley obviously needed to learn more about the facts about alcohol abuse and alcoholism.

Stanley Needs Alcohol Detoxification and Alcohol Treatment For His Alcohol Dependency and a Medical Assessment Regarding His Depression

So Stanley used his problem solving ability, called his family doctor, and made an appointment for a complete physical examination. The next week when he saw his doctor, Stanley regrettably discovered that he was an alcoholic. His family doctor told Stanley that he needed to get alcohol detox and alcohol rehabilitation for his alcohol dependency and that he also needed to get a medical assessment regarding his depression. In short, Stanley needed treatment for his alcoholism and depression.

The Good News is That After His Treatment For Alcohol Addiction and For Depression, He Felt Like a Different Individual

His doctor suggested to Stanley that he take a 45-day leave of absence from work and get enrolled in a quality in-patient alcohol rehabilitation facility where his depression could also be appraised and treated. This is precisely what Stanley did. The good news is that after his treatment for alcohol dependency and for depression, he felt like a new person. In actual fact, now that he was living an alcohol-free life he rarely got depressed and he now knew how to more efficiently and successfully manage his finances, his relationships, his job, and his health.

Obviously, the most difficult “test” Stanley encountered was at the office. Simply put, he still took his existing vendors and potential vendors to various sporting events and to lunch, but after his alcohol rehab he managed to abstain from drinking while entertaining his clients.

It can be emphasized that Stanley also learned that none of his existing vendors or potential vendors thought any less of him because of his abstinence. Conversely, he found out that his potential vendors and existing vendors respected him for staying true to his convictions.

Stanley’s Better Finances, Relationships, Work Performance, and the Better Health He Experienced More Than counterbalanced His Love of Drinking

After Stanley went through alcohol treatment, however, he learned that he was a person who, for whatever reason, could not drink responsibly and in moderation. In point of fact he found out the hard way that if he stayed away from drinking, all of the other important parts of his life would be fortified. Every so often, Stanley missed drinking, but the better health, finances, work performance, and the better relationships he experienced more than offset his love of drinking.
