Fine Men’s Wristwatches Is The Way To Go Vintage

It is no secret that hot mens watches are one of the trademarks of the affluent. The charming appearance and the quality craftmanship of vintage watches are given more value that its feature to keep time. Vintage watches are known to mostly have only mechanical movements and are powered by springs. In the 16th century, the first ever watch was made in Europe and were called “clock watches”. The clock watches were worn around the neck or were fastened onto clothing. Wearing such heavy clocks around the neck was quite uncomfortable, they also had only an hour hand and the face of the clock was covered a brass cover which was pierced decoratively so that people could read time without actually opening the brass cover.

Fine mens watches were invented in 1556 by Taqi al-Din whose innovation was a spring powered pocket watch and in the year 1600, the men started wearing classic timepieces called pocket watches, the women back then were still wearing pendant watches and they wore these watches well into the 20th century. The pocket was originally created to fit perfectly into a man’s pocket, year later it slowly improved its shape until now: flattened, round and edges are jagged-free. The face of the pocket watch was in 1610 covered with glasses, and men also began to use what is known as watch fobs. The pocket watch was wound and set by simply opening the back of the watch and then fitting a special key to the square arbour and then turning it. Long ago, when male wristwatches ever became famous, men were simply content with the pocket watch and others even promised to themselves not to wear a wristwatch – the probable reason why the pocket watch stayed for a long time.

Vintage watches are definitely making a huge comeback and most fashion savvy men are really embracing its return. Avid watch collectors love just the thought of owning a real genuine pocket watch – please understand, it is not about the money (okay, got me!), it is all about being part of history, the pure elegance, craftsmanship, technology and creativity that goes into producing this wonderful timepiece.
